This tool is large and heavy. 7 1/4 inch x 4 5/8 inch when locked, 1 3/16 inch thick. Weighs 2 lb. Hence 4 stars. It easily drives 5/16 staples fully into red oak (even on the lower power setting). The grey part is metal, the orange part is plastic. The handle needs to be in the pressed position in order to lock the tool, but you do not have to shoot a staple to do that, thanks to an intelligent design. Slightly pulling the handle out frees it from the shooting mechanism so it can be pressed almost effortlessly and without shooting a staple.Tacwise is a UK based company but there is no detail of where the tool is made on the tool or on the packaging. The packaging looks like a blister, but it is actually a clamshell held closed by two easily removable staples.Loading is simple (with tool upside down, slide magazine out, position staples in channel, return magazine to place). There is a window that allows you to see the ~12 staples closest to the nose, so you know when you have less than ~12 staples left. It could be nice if the window was a bit larger, to allow earlier warning. The tool comes with about 200 3/16 staples, so you can try it even without purchasing staples. The 140 series of staples are about 13/32" wide. This is not a Vine review.Update after using for a project: The belt clip is a godsend. One annoying feature is that you must release the handle FULLY before shooting the next staples. Considering the handle's long path, this can pose somewhat of a problem for people that don't have large hands. En lire plus

I mostly staple into softwood, so my bar for these staplers is to be able to sink a 9/16" staple into whatever random SPF softwood I have laying around. This left 9/16" staples about 1/8" proud in some pine scraps I tested it on, on the higher power setting, while my Arrow T-50 was happy to sink them slightly below flush if I held the "gland end" of the tool down with my other hand. I also tested the DeWalt model, which reliably left the 9/16" staples proud by the thickness of the staple wire. Heavy Duty this thing is not. For only very slightly more money the DeWalt is also a much more "polite" (smooth, quiet, and without kick) action than this thing. Back to my Arrow for me. En lire plus

Great stapler and works as advertised. Just don't be like me and purchase the wrong kind of staples for it. It has a lot of safety features over other staplers to keep someone from grabbing it and accidentally using it. This is a good features since it's designed to take a bit less force to squeeze off a staple with this model. It's something you need to judge for yourself and can compare to other models of staple gun if you have one. For me it was a lighter squeeze than usual, which is great for large staple jobs. But for those of you worried that someone may grab this and hurt themselves, the safety features on it to lock the arm help prevent that. And as always, use common sense with tools and don't leave them in a box of toys or use them to help take a shower...The tracker is nice to keep lines steady and the staple gun itself has a bit of a guide along the bottom to help you "walk" the gun along whatever cable you may be stapling. It's not profound enough to really displace the gun if you need it flat against a surface or something like that. But just enough to help you walk a cable. The light squeeze action to the handle would make this a great for jobs that need multiple staples fast over a pneumatic or electric staple gun if needed without causing tons of strain to your hands.
